Fiber To The Home Building- Smart Home Installations- Smart Home Panels

American Tech Supply has provided the following pictorial on how the final segment on a fiber to the home project is completed. When fiber to the home materials are laid from the central office to the development, the purpose is to eventually install fiber optic cable right to the entrance of a home. Inside the home, the cable you will see is a multi-media coax, fiber and CAT 5e cable. The cable consists of (2) RG 6 coax cables, (2) multimode fiber cables, (3) (2) CAT 5e cables- all in one sheath. As a home builder or developer, this cable should be considered as an option as it offers a homeowner the ability to choose either dial up, DSL, T-1- broadband, Cable TV, Satellite, data LAN connections, Security, Entertainment and of course fiber to the desktop. American Tech Supply also wants to thank ATEK Communications for providing these photos describing in detail how a fiber to the home project is completed and a smart home is created from the inside out.

Stage At Which Smart Home Cable Needs To Be Installed-Just After Studs Are Put Up But Before Sheet Rock Is Installed

First Option Is To Pull Multiple Runs Of CAT 5E and Coax RG 6 Cable Thru Studs-Separately- This is "OK" For Short Runs- and is also more economical as far as material cost -but more time consuming-so labor costs are higher.

Second Option Is To Use Commscope's Multiple Media Smart Cable Which May Cost Little More than The Previous Photo- But Saves Costs On Labor and Quality Of Work

Example Of Multiple Cable Runs In A Commercial Building Using Commscope's (2) CAT5e, (2) Coax RG 6 and (2) Multimode Fiber Cables

Cables Are Terminated -Then Tested To Sure They All Meet EIA-TIA 568A and B Specifications

CAT 5e Cable and Coax Cable Are Carefully Pulled Then Mounted and "Punched Down" at the Patch Panel- Then The Cables are "Dressed" To Secure the Cable and make them look aesthetically pleasing to look at.

In This Photo- Smart Patch Panels or "Cans" Are Placed In A Commercial Garage And Are locked Up

Cables are "punched" down on "media" Panels consisting of 8 or 12 Port Coax Panels or 8 or 12 Port Telephone Modiles that distribute the telephone, data, video, surveillance, Satellite TV, entertainment, lighting, or coax broadband/coax high speed data service to variuos parts of the house. You can plug and play" your needs throughout the house.

Remember To Have Your Contractor Cover the Wallplates After Cable Termination and Testing- This Will Keep Paint Overspray From Damaging Your Outlets
